About us
The practice of Atarashii Naginata in Spain began in 2018, introduced to the country by Leandro Pereira Zapata.
That same year, the Matsu Nihon Budo Cultural Association was founded with the aim of creating a shared project among practitioners to promote the naginata throughout the country and organize activities.
In 2019, Leandro Pereira, Marina Viñuela, and Neus Garín began their training with Sensei Dominique Pouchard and Loïc Delalande, attending seminars with them ever since to further their skills and teach what they had learned to other practitioners who had emerged over the years in Spain.
That same year, they participated for the first time in a European event, at the seminar held in Wiesbaden on the occasion of the 7th World Naginata Championship. Since then, the association has continued to progress and grow in membership, with several members attending European seminars and even traveling to Japan for training.
In 2023, Matsu Nihon Budo submitted its application for provisional membership in the ENF as Spain’s representative. Two years later, on October 24, 2025, Spain was accepted as a permanent member of the ENF
