About us
We started practising naginatado in 1997. The first and so far the only club – Naginata Gorenkai – was established in Prague. Our first public appearance was in April 1998 at the 4th Budo Show. We practise under the guidance of our sensei, Mrs. Hideko Zaitsu. Mrs. Zaitsu was born in 1939 in Osaka and started with naginatado in 1991. At present she holds 4th dan and 1st grade for judge. The Naginata Gorenkai club was officially accepted into the Czech Kendo Federation on January 1st 1999. In the same year we entered the European and International Naginata Federation as a part of the Czech Kendo Federation.
