It was a memorable moment to meet again in Brussels in September 2022 for this event nicely organized by the Belgian Federation of Naginata.
Most of the members of the European Federation were present to start on Friday with a small seminar course and a grading. Meetings and trainings followed one another throughout the day until the welcome dinner in the evening during which David D’hose and Mark Berghaan toasted their 30 years of practice and took the opportunity to add a trophy to the technical competition of the European Championships; “the MD CUP”.
The general assembly was the occasion to vote for the integration of Estonia as a permanent member of the ENF and Switzerland as a temporary member. It is always a great moment when members are added to our Federation. It was also the occasion to vote for a new Board and so Kirsi Hoglund from Sweden became the new President and François Dermine from Belgium the new Technical Director.
On Saturday morning, after demonstrations of Ono Ha Itto Ryu and Hontai Yoshin ryu, the European Championships took place in a warm atmosphere. The competitions were of a high technical and fighting level. For the first time, on Sunday we had a goodwill Kata Federation competition.
After the awarding of trophies to almost all nations, the championships ended with the hope of repeating themselves the following year in Italy.
The Swiss federation has made a very nice video report of the championships on the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk1TeZOw7Z-UvFVkZH-5JSA
